Abstract:   (12 Views)
Optimizing employee transportation in manufacturing, especially in shift-based, 24/7 environments, is critically important due to its substantial share of operating costs, its direct impact on workforce productivity, and its role in reducing environmental footprints. The core challenge lies in simultaneously integrating shift scheduling with optimal routing under constraints such as vehicle capacities, key job-role requirements, and geographically dispersed residences. In this study, we propose a two-phase mixed-integer programming model: Phase I assigns employees to services and designs outbound routes, while Phase II optimizes the return routes. The proposed approach, which is readily generalizable to similar industrial settings, provides an effective tool for lowering costs, improving fleet productivity, and enhancing environmental sustainability.
