Considering the growing trend of consumption and demand of steel slabs for hot rolling and its conversion into coils and sales in the country and the world market, optimizing the movement and storage capacity of slab ridges in proportion to market development seems necessary and one of the important factors in the profitability of steel companies. The main purpose of this study is how to classify the slabs in the first stage using fuzzy clustering method and then in the second stage with the mathematical model of integer optimization, the displacement of the slabs in the warehouse according to the limited capacity of the warehouse is minimized. The main findings indicate that in order to optimize the load efficiency of the slab storage crane, first two indicators of slabs and 4 families of slabs should be investigated. To do this, the crane has selected 4 rolling items (slabs) from areas 3, 3, 2 and 1 and columns 13, 12, 20 and 2 of the slab warehouse, respectively. Then, with the expansion of the number of slabs in the warehouse, another analysis is discussed. Also, the optimal values obtained for the decision variables for warehouse development programs were suggested to the warehouse managers.
