The purpose of this research is to choose a suitable decision-making method for prioritizing the investment portfolio of National Iranian Oil Company. The statistical population of the research includes the managers and experts of 10 companies under the National Iranian Oil Company, from which 10 senior managers were selected for conducting pairwise comparisons. According to the Kumar's classification, the research method is applied, interpretive, exploratory with quantitative and qualitative nature. For this purpose, the internal and external compatibility of an intuitive method with three Multi Attribute Decision Making methods (F-PROMETHEE II, F-TOPSIS and F-ELECTRE III) were examined based on two hypotheses. The result of the first hypothesis indicates the more consistency of the intuitive ranking method compared to the multi-criteria decision making methods. The result of the second hypothesis indicates the consistency of the results of the intuitive method and other multi-criteria decision making methods. The results of the consistency test among different decision-making methods using three methods of Pearson's correlation coefficient, Spearman's correlation coefficient and Kendall's correlation coefficient showed that in the National Iranian Oil Company, the intuitive approach is more coherent and reliable than the multi-criteria decision-making methods for decision making.
