Abstract

The study of anchor points is particularly important in terms of their strategic position in the production possibility set (PPS). They are connectors of the efficient and inefficient part of the PPS boundary in data envelopment analysis (DEA). In this paper, anchor points have been studied as an important subset of the set of extreme efficient points of the production possibility set. For this purpose, the present study presents two necessary and sufficient conditions and two sufficient conditions to characterize anchor points in BCC models. Although one of the applications of these points is improvement of envelopment topic, in some cases, identification of all anchor points is unnecessary. Therefore, the conditions mentioned in this paper are a guide to achieve this goal.
